“Joyce started back in the late 1990’s as a volunteer coach to both the local highschool and junior high. She saw a need for club volleyball and started Club Gold South and has never looked back. She has selflessly given decades of her time to athletes from all over the Ohio Valley. Club Gold has become a volleyball staple of our area and it is because of the years Joyce put into this club. She has made it a place where the kids, as people, come first. She’s been an advocate of the sport both as a coach and a parent. In her retirement, she could be relaxing and spending time doing anything she wishes. She chooses to stay involved and continue to help run the club as a director and a coach, many times taking multiple teams per season. She’s helped driven kids to college visits and done all she could to connect kids with colleges should that be their choice. Joyce is open and honest with her players and they respect her dedication and love to play for her. We see kids who are now young adults tell us that club was one of the best times of their lives. It takes someone who truly loves the game to put in the hours that Joyce has. She doesn’t do it for a pat on the back or the paycheck, she does it because she has seen the improvement of the game overall in our area and the joy that club volleyball can bring to our girls. Her impact on not just us, but the other coaches and athletes can’t be put into words. She’s earned our love and respect and I can’t say enough what she has done for the athletes of the valley.”

Her passion for volleyball is matched only by her passion for helping young people grow—both as players and as human beings. She has served the club in nearly every capacity: elite coach, positional specialist, mentor, and now Recruiting Director, where her dedication has helped so many Sting athletes achieve their dream of playing at the next level. Over two decades, Traci has worked with every age group, coached teams to repeatedly finish among the top in the nation, and developed multiple All-Americans. She sees potential before others do, and she brings it out with patience, clarity, and a genuine belief in each athlete’s journey. Twila Nogowski
Twila NogowskiHead Director
VOLT
West Fargo, ND
22 years of service
“Twila is one of the most humble and influential leaders in North Dakota volleyball. Since becoming the director of VOLT in 2004, she has grown the program from just two teams to more than thirty-six, now offering opportunities for athletes from kindergarten through 12th grade. Beyond her role as director, Twila is also a full-time middle school teacher and a mom of two. Even with her full schedule, she never turns down the chance to be in the gym. Her mission has always been clear: provide opportunity — not just for the top athletes, but for any kid who loves the game, regardless of where they are in their development. When Twila sees a need, she acts. After attending several middle school games this season, she met with the West Fargo athletic director to propose changes and advocate for athletes. She helped initiate communication to high school coaches, bringing awareness to developmental gaps at the middle school level and calling for action. Her impact reaches far beyond the walls of VOLT. Athletes from surrounding clubs seek her out for private lessons, and her reputation within the community continues to grow. Former players she coached years ago — whether in high school, club, or even her classroom — are now part of VOLT’s coaching staff, a testament to the influence she’s had on their lives. Twila develops players on the court, but more importantly, she shapes confident, resilient young people off the court. Her dedication to growing the game, her athletes, and her coaches is evident in everything she does.”
