JVA requires that member junior volleyball clubs adhere to the JVA Safety Policy

JVA Background Screen and Training Requirements

JVA has partnered with Ankored to give our applicants an easy to use, secure platform to complete their background screen and coaches training. National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI) still processes the JVA background screens to ensure athlete safety and compliance standards. All adults on a JVA roster must complete the NCSI Background Screening and Trusted Coach training course. Applicants can now view and follow the progress of their background screen in Ankored. Club directors will be able to see a status for both the background screen and training on their club page from application to completion.

The cost of the NCSI background screen + Trusted Coach training course is $27 and is good for one year from completion date. Payment is made online within Ankored. *Applicants who previously completed and passed the two year NCSI background screen will be honored until their expiration date.

JVA currently accepts AAU background screens (US and Canadian). If you have an AAU membership, you do not need to submit anything to JVA. Click here for help with JVA roster validation in AES using your AAU membership.

JVA does not accept USAV screens. Anyone with only a USAV background screen should complete the NCSI background screen and Trusted Coach training course through JVA.

CANADIAN COACHES
Canadian coaches must submit a police check within the last two years of the tournament date AND proof of completion of Making Ethical Decisions to the tournaments inbox (tournaments@jvavolleyball.org). The Volleyball Canada course “Safe Sport Training” will also qualify for Assistant Coaches.

CLUB DIRECTORS can view the status of their coaches background screens under “View Club Details” on their club page. You must be logged into your JVA account for access.

Who Needs to Complete a Background Screening and Trusted Coach training course?

All individuals, 18 years of age or older, involved in any capacity with a JVA member club or JVA insured event must be screened:

  • Club Directors

  • Administrators

  • Tournament Directors

  • Coaches

  • Chaperones

  • Trainers who register, affiliate and/or participate with a junior volleyball club or team.

  • Officials 18 or older who intends to work a junior sanctioned event will also be screened (with the exception of a junior player).

A background screen is not required for those individuals who are classified only as junior players. Clubs that register junior players as coaches will ensure that those coaches are screened upon reaching 18 years of age.
