Elite Volleyball Training Center was founded in 2007 by current club co-directors and husband/wife team, Randy and Jackie Cline. The club started with only 10 girls and quickly grew from one team to three teams, then to 46 teams today spanning over two locations in Columbus, Ohio. The club strives to encourage and prepare young people to reach their highest potential in athletics and in life. Whether an athlete calls themself a volleyball player or a multi-sport athlete, he or she is always welcome at EliteVBTC.

EliteVBTC Offers a wide range of services to reach athletes and families of all levels and experiences. This includes but is not limited to: Club Volleyball Teams, In-House Leagues, Year Round Beach Training, Hybrid Beach Training, Strength and Conditioning Training, Clinics, Camps, Small Group Sessions and Private Lessons.

The list of services allow a family to decide what volleyball training fits best for their family’s schedule. An athlete can participate in club volleyball, which includes 3 or more days of training along with travel to tournaments that may even be out of state, or she can participate in an In-House League that requires no travel at all. Either way, the athlete is in good hands with the EliteVBTC staff who focus on preparing each athlete for the next level of the game of volleyball.

Through their summer, Fall and Winter In-House Leagues, EliteVBTC has 450 participants in 2nd through 9th grade split by grade level. They use scoring and rule modifications in the 2nd-4th grade level to keep athletes engaged, motivated and having fun. Each week they form teams, play four minute games with the goal to get as many points as possible through scoring and rule modifications, then teams rotate to the next court and play again after reporting their scores. There is a leadership so teams can see where they stand each week. This model has been super successful and has allowed them to grow at the next age groups (5-6th grade league and 7-9th grade league).

Elite’s coaching staff represents experience at all levels, including collegiate and professional playing experience, club coaching experience, and collegiate coaching experience. Co-Director, Jackie Cline, played for The Ohio State University from 2002-2005 where the team made multiple NCAA Tournament appearances including the Sweet Sixteen in 2002 and the Elite Eight in 2004. Randy started his athletic adventures in baseball but shifted gears to volleyball. He has experience playing and coaching at the collegiate level along with indoor Professional experience, and beach professional playing experience on the AVP Tour.

In 2023 EliteVBTC joined League One Volleyball (LOVB).  Their philosophy is to prepare their athletes to compete at the club, high school, collegiate, and professional level. They do this by teaching the most successful and proven techniques in the game today.

“We are excited to see the game of volleyball grow. We work with athletes as young as 4 years old, and it’s awesome to think that she may grow into the next Pro-Volleyball player on American soil.” – Jackie Cline.

Randy and Jackie Cline are also firm believers that beach volleyball and indoor volleyball can co-exist. The club offersyear round beach volleyball hybrid training. This allows an indoor club volleyball player the opportunity to get reps in the sand during her indoor season. With beach volleyball tournaments offered year round all over the United States and the rules stating that athletes can partner with anyone from around the country, EliteVBTC encourages their athletes to play beach volleyball as much as their schedule allows. The indoor coaches and beach coaches collaborate to ensure the hybrid volleyball player is healthy, physically and mentally, and communicating about absences and successes. Some athletes have even made the choice to make beach volleyball their only athletic pursuit. Many have gone on to earn scholarships to play beach volleyball collegiately.

EliteVBTC is active in their community, partnering with a local Fellowship for Christian Athletes to help them create a League to grow the game. They also work closely with Nationwide Children’s Hospital during the holidays doing a Giving Tree, and a Homeless Group called “Our Own Backyard” where they donate gently used backpacks and food items for the homeless community. As long as there are young athletes striving to be the best at volleyball, Elite Volleyball Training Center will continue to strive to grow their outreach of the game. The goal is to provide a volleyball experience for as many youth participants in the Central Ohio area.

Elite Volleyball Training Center (Plain City, Ohio) is a member of the Junior Volleyball Association, an organization committed to enhancing the junior volleyball experience for club directors, coaches, players, and fans.
