The JVA is proud to honor two volleyball club directors, Erin Golden and Ron Reyes for the AVCA T.E.A.M. Awards—which promote Togetherness, Empowerment, Accessibility, and Mentoring within the volleyball community. The AVCA T.E.A.M. Awards is committed to fostering a strong sense of community, delivering meaningful value, and empowering coaches as leaders at all levels of the sport of volleyball—while also supporting their growth and long-term success in their coaching careers.
“Erin and Ron exemplify what it means to lead with purpose and heart,” said Lisa Wielebnicki, JVA Executive Director. “Their dedication to empowering athletes, supporting fellow coaches, and building inclusive, connected volleyball communities reflects the very spirit of the AVCA T.E.A.M. Awards. We’re proud to celebrate their impact and the example they set for our sport.”
Erin Golden is the Assistant Director at Omaha Starlings Volleyball. She has been involved with the program since her freshman year of high school when she played for Starlings. After graduating high school, she began coaching for Starlings. Her daughter, Taniya, a current college volleyball player at Missouri Southern State University, also played for Starlings for ten years. Erin’s Starlings team won National Championship titles in 2019 and 2021!
Ron Reyes is the 2025 Starlings Volleyball USA Director of the Year for his impactful leadership at Starlings Eastlake Volleyball Club in Chula Vista, California. Coach Ron, as he is affectionately known by his current and former players, started the Eastlake program 20 years ago with three volleyball teams and has grown over the last several years to up to 15 teams, serving over 1,800 girls in the South Bay area of San Diego county to date. The Starlings Eastlake Club is one of the largest clubs among the Starlings national organization. In addition to serving so many girls over time, Ron has mentored coaches and former players who return to his club to coach.
The recipients of the AVCA T.E.A.M. Awards will attend the 2025 AVCA Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. At the event, they will participate in a series of educational seminars—many of which focus on professional and personal growth—and take part in additional relationship-building experiences during the Convention.
The 2025 honorees were chosen by the JVA, and they are receiving a complimentary pre-convention and full convention registration package and up to five nights of lodging for the AVCA Convention.
During their time at the event, the recipients will have an agenda filled with educational sessions that are led by veteran volleyball coaches and industry leaders. The programming not only provides instruction to help them develop as on-court tacticians and off-the-court managers, but it also offers a connection point for them to experienced coaches who have been in their shoes.
