Purpose
The JVA Boys Commitment and Club Transfer Policy establishes a consistent process for athlete commitments and club transfers to promote transparency, accountability, and respect among JVA member clubs while protecting the interests of clubs, athletes, and families.
Player Commitment
Once an athlete and parent/guardian have accepted and signed a club’s participation agreement, the athlete is considered committed to that JVA member club for the applicable season unless a mutually agreed-upon release is granted.
Transfer Eligibility
An athlete wishing to transfer from one JVA member club to another after signing a participation agreement may do so only after all of the following requirements have been satisfied:
1. Good Standing
The athlete must be in good standing with the current club, including fulfillment of applicable contractual responsibilities, return of club-issued equipment or uniforms, resolution of any outstanding disciplinary matters and all outstanding financial obligations owed to the current club must be satisfied in accordance with the signed club agreement, unless otherwise waived in writing by the current club.
2. Written Club Release
The current club must submit an official Player Release Form through JVA membership indicating that the athlete has been released from their commitment.
3. Receiving Club Acceptance
The receiving club must acknowledge acceptance of the athlete and confirm its intent to roster the player following approval of the release.
4. JVA Roster Approval
The athlete’s transfer is not considered complete until JVA has received the required documentation, approved the transfer, and updated the official membership and rostering platform.
Responsibilities of Member Clubs
Releasing Club
- Respond to transfer requests in a timely manner.
- Confirm the athlete’s financial and contractual status.
- Submit the official JVA Player Release Form upon approval.
Receiving Club
- Verify that a release has been approved before rostering or accepting the athlete.
- Refrain from encouraging or inducing an athlete under contract to violate an existing club agreement.
- Cooperate with JVA to ensure accurate roster records.
Unauthorized Transfers
An athlete may not participate on behalf of another JVA member club until the transfer process has been completed. Clubs that roster athletes without an approved release may be subject to review and disciplinary action.
Exceptions
JVA reserves the right to approve exceptions in extraordinary circumstances, including but not limited to:
- Club dissolution or suspension.
- Verified athlete safety or welfare concerns.
- Relocation of the athlete’s primary residence.
- Other circumstances determined by JVA to be in the best interest of the athlete and the integrity of the membership.
Policy Objective
This policy is intended to encourage respectful collaboration between member clubs, maintain accurate roster records, honor contractual commitments, and provide a fair process for athletes and families when transfers become necessary.

The transfer procedure linked above outlines the process that must be completed in order for an athlete to transfer to another JVA member club. The JVA Boys Athlete Release Form must be completed and submitted by the athlete’s current (releasing) JVA member club.
