The JVA is proud to announce the 15 events in the 2020 BVCA Club Challenge Series powered by the JVA. After a successful 2019 inaugural season, the excitement has increased for the club vs club format as more beach clubs are adapting to a competitive club duel model that emulates the college game.
“All of the series hosts are passionate about the grassroots effort to build the series, grow the team aspect of beach volleyball and emulate the college level” shares BVCA Founder and Director Jeff Smith. “Each host is required to meet criteria in order to be a part of the series, and offer a high quality event. Our goal is for this series to continue to grow nationwide, and for more beach clubs to adapt to this model of competition.”
Each tournament in the BVCA Club Challenge Series is required to have match play competition following NCAA beach volleyball rules. There is no stay to play policy, and every tournament is open to clubs/teams of any affiliation (AAU, USAV, JVA, other) so all teams are welcome and will be insured.
“After attending the first AVCA National Collegiate Beach Championships and more recently the NCAA Collegiate Beach Championships, I fell in love with the format” shares JVA Executive Director Jenny Hahn. “Every player, no matter if she was on the #1 doubles team or the #5 doubles team, mattered. All ten players got the same amount of play time. I knew that somehow we had to make this happen for our junior athletes. We are thankful for the foresight and creativity of Series Director, Jeff Smith. We are very grateful for all of the event directors who share our vision and are making the series possible.”
The series will include a point system and qualification process for the 2020 BVCA National Championship held every year in the middle of July where a club national champion will be named.
