The JVA is excited to facilitate a long list of indoor and beach volleyball educational sessions at the 2024 AVCA Convention and NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championships in Louisville, Kentucky December 18-22, 2024. The classroom and court sessions, sponsored by the JVA, feature a number of seasoned Club Directors, Coaches and Youth Sports Leaders covering a wide array of topics that will make this year’s Convention one you must attend! New this year: During Convention Marketplace hours, the JVA staff will be available for meetings at the JVA booth #241. More information on this soon.

11:00AM – 12:00PM Club Director Mentoring Huddle presented by Jason Kozak (VA Elite), Jasmine Fullove (The Academy Boiler Juniors) and Jackie Cline (Elite VBTC). Small breakout groups designed to provide a mentoring experience and discussion among attendees and presenters. Topics include finance/accounting, marketing, facility programming, camps, coach development, communication and MORE!

This session will include an emphasis on the master coaching impact on coach development and building a leadership team, coach evaluations, encouraging coaches to attend and present at the Convention and to lead camps and clinics within the club’s programming.

4:40PM – 5:20PM Keynote Speaker Dr. Larry Widman, Founder of Maxout Mindset. 
Dr. Larry Widman has over 25 years of experience as a psychiatrist and nearly 20 years as a high-performance mindset coach. He works with CEOs, corporations, professional athletes, military leaders, Olympians, and multiple NCAA and high school teams. Dr. Widman has been integral in achieving nine college and professional national championships and numerous high school championships. He has also helped dozens of teams max out when it matters most.

9:00AM-10:00AM: What girls and boys club and high school coaches can learn from the men’s college game presented by Ozhan Bahrambeygui, Executive Director of COAST Volleyball.

A deep dive into the LBSU and UCLA men’s college transition systems and the concepts that can be carried over into the boys and girls junior games. This session will examine the setting and attack plans used by these programs to maximize transition success when you are in the “knock out” phase of the game. Ozhan will also go through drill progressions and the ideas that need active reinforcement in order to get there.

10:15am-11:15AM Beach Learning Lab. Finding Balance and Collaboration: How to navigate working with indoor programs and other sports to grow your beach club presented by TJ Staples, Beach Program Director at Dakine Volleyball.

11:30AM-12:30PM The Recruiting Journey for a Junior Volleyball Athlete – addressing scholarships, NIL, and how to guide male and female athletes to their college commitment presented by Meghan Keck (1st Alliance), Max Miller (Mintonette Sports), Bryan Paliza (630 Volleyball) ,and Andy Halaz (HPSTL).

1:00-2:00PM Bridging the Gap from Juniors to the College Level and Beyond. Beach Drills that can be applied to the elite level beach athlete at any age presented by Pri Piantadosi-Lima, Head Coach at Univ. of South Florida.
