Volley SuperLiga is the elite division of boys power league volleyball. Designed to elevate competition within established power leagues, VSL gives top teams a higher-level competitive pathway while creating a format that can expand to leagues nationwide. THE Point Series and Midwest Boys Point Series are the first to bring VSL to their athletes. Follow along this season to see how it works and how you can implement VSL into your league.

An already-established Power League can implement a VSL Division to their league using the VSL Point System. VSL is the highest division possible at an event and allows participating teams to directly compete with teams playing in other regions – without the extra travel.

Think of it as a multi-state, multi-tournament point system.

The Volley SuperLiga Cup is the culminating event for each power league with a VSL Division. Only the top teams from each power league will get a chance to compete in the VSL Cup! BONUS! Winners of the VSL Cup earn an entry to the JVA Boys National Championship!

WHAT IS VOLLEY SUPERLIGA

Introducing Volley SuperLiga (VSL) within THE Point Series and Midwest Boys Point Series.

Where the top boys teams compete.

Volley SuperLiga (VSL) is the premier division of boys power league competition, bringing together top teams from THE Point Series and the Midwest Boys Point Series, along with select at-large teams from across the country.

Built for teams looking for high-level, meaningful competition throughout the season, VSL creates more opportunities for elite programs to face one another before the national championship season begins.

Top-Level Competition: VSL serves as the highest competitive division within participating Power Leagues, creating a schedule built around strong, nationally competitive teams.
More High-Level Matchups: Teams from THE Point Series and Midwest Boys Point Series will have opportunities to compete across series, creating matchups that typically only happen at major national events.
At-Large Opportunities: Select teams from outside the two point series may be invited to compete in VSL, expanding the field and bringing additional top programs into league play.
Performance Matters: Promotion and relegation keep the league competitive throughout the season. Teams earn and maintain their place in the top division based on performance.

The goal is simple: put the best teams across the net from each other more often.

GENERAL PARTICIPATION & STRUCTURE

What happens if a team participates in VSL #1 but does not attend VSL #2?

If a team participates in one of the VSL Tiered weekends, they are still eligible for the VSL Cup.

If a team stays local and only participates in their Point Series, can they still qualify for the top bracket/final championship weekend?

Yes.
There will be:
- At-large positions
- Spots allocated through Point Series performance/points IF you selected that you want to be a part of the VSL

How many teams will be in the top championship bracket on the final weekend?

Approximately 32 teams in the top division/bracket.

Will winners receive entry into Nationals?

Will there be a public webpage showing overall rankings and standings?

Yes.
Rankings/points tracking will be available on the website.

Will VSL #1 Chicago be at the same venue as THE Point Series event?

AT-LARGE BIDS & QUALIFICATION

When will at-large application deadlines be announced?

August 1st: at-large events open on AES (Saturday)
November 1st: VSL #1 and VSL #2 at-large application due (Sunday)
November 11th: VSL #1 at-large acceptance (Wednesday)
December 16th: VSL #2 at-large acceptance (Wednesday)

If fewer teams apply for at-large positions than allocated spots, what happens?

Additional teams would be pulled up based on points standings.

Could more teams than originally allocated from each series ultimately qualify?

Yes, the allocations are minimums.

WISCONSIN CLUBS & HIGH SCHOOL SEASON

With Tier 1 and Tier 2 capped at 12 teams each, what realistic pathway exists for an unseeded Wisconsin club to access those tiers?

Submit an application for an At-Large bid.

VSL CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND

Will there be a crossover event for non-VSL Cup teams during Presidents Day weekend?

Yes.
The crossover Point Series event will also be held in Indianapolis to create a unified championship environment.

Will the crossover event be two or three days?

High School plus 14s divisions will be a three day event.
12s-13s will be a two day event.

AES & REGISTRATION

How are divisions determined?

Points formula and qualification process will determine:

Can teams decline advancement to a higher tier/event without penalty?

BACKGROUND SCREENS

All adults listed on a roster for JVA-insured tournaments must complete the JVA Background Screen and Trusted Coach training. Clubs cannot submit rosters until every adult listed has a cleared background screen and completed coaches training. For more information about JVA’s background screening requirements, click here.

Adults with a verified AAU background screen may be added to a JVA roster and are not required to complete the JVA Background Screen form. JVA does NOT accept USAV background screens.

MISCELLANEOUS

Volleyball Rental: JVA does not have volleyball rental available. All teams are responsible for bringing their own volleyballs for warmups. Game balls will be provided.

Athletic Trainers: Athletic Trainers will be available inside the playing hall by the main tournament desk.

Facility Rules: No outside food, beverage, or tailgating allowed. No coolers will be allowed. There will be chairs provided along each court for spectators. Camping chairs will NOT be allowed in the convention center due to a potential fire hazard.
