The JVA is pleased to announce that Nick Maruyama has been appointed to the JVA Board of Directors as the JVA Boys Representative. Maruyama is Executive Director of 630 Volleyball in Lisle, Illinois.
Under his leadership, the program went from 16 teams to 21 teams, solidifying the program as the largest boys club in the Midwest. During the ‘20-’21 season, he led his 16-1s to a 2nd place finish in 16 Open division during the programs first ever USAV Nationals appearance. Now the program boasts 30 boys teams and 21 girls teams.
In addition to his leadership role with 630, Maruyama is the Mens VLA Owner & Head Coach and Director of Chicago Sand Volleyball. Maruyama was the Assistant Women’s volleyball coach at Wheaton college from 2018 – 2021, and a USAV High Performance coach from 2017 – 2019.
“Including my volleyball experience, I am extremely passionate about growing the boys/mens game. It is important to me to see more boys playing volleyball across the country as well as seeing more college and professional opportunities in the states. I appreciate the consideration for this role,” said Maruyama.
With the growth of boys volleyball across the country, it is important to have someone connected within the boys community and passionate about communicating with directors to keep the mission of working together on track. Nick has played an integral role by being a positive voice and keeping all clubs’ needs at the forefront of JVA’s initiatives. We are thrilled to have him on our JVA Board and know his guidance and support will only grow the successes within the boys community,” said JVA Associate Director, Lisa Wielebnicki.
