One of the most common questions we hear from Club Directors is:

What’s the difference between Player Registration Protection and Accident & Injury Coverage?

While both products help protect athletes and families, they serve two different purposes. Understanding the difference helps your staff answer questions confidently and gives families the information they need to make informed decisions.

PLAYER REGISTRATION PROTECTION

Player Registration Protection by ViCoverage, powered by Vertical Insure, helps protect a family’s eligible non-refundable registration fees if an athlete is unable to participate due to an approved covered event.

Coverage may include situations such as:

  • Season-ending injuries
  • Short-term injuries
  • Season-ending illnesses
  • Short-term illnesses
  • Parent job loss
  • Parent job relocation
  • Active military duty
  • Death of a parent or athlete, subject to policy terms

If a claim is approved, reimbursement is based on the unused portion of the season and the terms of the policy.

Simply put: Player Registration Protection helps protect a family’s registration investment.

ACCIDENT & INJURY COVERAGE

Accident & Injury Coverage serves a different purpose. Rather than protecting registration fees, it helps families with eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses resulting from a covered accident during club activities.

Depending on the policy, eligible expenses may include:

  • Emergency room visits
  • X-rays
  • MRIs
  • Physical therapy
  • Surgery
  • Follow-up care
  • Deductibles and copays

Simply put: Accident & Injury Coverage helps families manage unexpected medical expenses resulting from a covered accident.

WHY MANY CLUBS OFFER BOTH

These coverages are designed to serve different needs, not replace one another.

Player Registration Protection helps protect a family’s registration investment. Accident & Injury Coverage helps with eligible medical expenses following a covered accident.

Offering both options gives families the opportunity to choose the protection that best fits their needs and budget. It also helps create a more informed registration experience.
