What Happens to Your Registration Fees If Your Athlete Can’t Play?

No family registers for club volleyball expecting plans to change.

You’re thinking about the excitement of a new season, new teammates and watching your athlete grow on and off the court.

But sometimes, life has other plans.

An unexpected injury
A serious illness
A family relocation
A job loss
Military orders

While these situations aren’t part of anyone’s plan, it’s important to understand what happens if your athlete is no longer able to participate after registration.

WHY MOST REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

Volleyball clubs begin preparing for the season long before the first practice. Registration fees help cover gym space, coaches, facility rentals, tournament fees, insurance and other operating expenses required to provide a successful season.

Because these commitments are made in advance, most clubs have non-refundable registration policies.

AN OPTION TO HELP PROTECT YOUR REGISTRATION INVESTMENT

Many JVA member clubs offer Player Registration Protection during registration. This optional coverage can help reimburse eligible non-refundable registration fees if your athlete is unable to participate due to an approved covered event.

Depending on the policy, covered events may include:

Season-ending injury, on or off the court, including preseason
Season-ending illness
Short-term injury
Short-term illness
Parent job loss or relocation
Military reassignment
Death of the athlete or guardian

If an approved claim occurs after the season has started, eligible reimbursement is based on the unused portion of the season.
